There are lots of James Bond novels but if you're talking about the ones Ian Fleming wrote that were adapted into films, he wrote 14 of them. A good clue to look out for when knowing if the film is based on one of his novels is in the beginning of the title sequence. If it says "(Actor's Name) as James Bond 007 in Ian Fleming's (Movie Title)", it's based on his novel. If it says "(Actor's Name) as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in (Movie Title)", it's not based on a novel but an original screenplay with one exception, Casino Royale (2006) which is considered faithful to the original novel.
