So many people weren't that scared by BWP. But some, like me, were terrified by the ending. I have a super overactive imagination and saw this in the theater and remember the story early in the movie that was told to them about that guy "Rustin Parr" who killed kids 2 at a time and was ashamed so he made one stand facing the corner so he could kill them separately without the other watching...I think folks burned his house down and executed him. When this movie ended....TONS of people in the theater were like "WTF was that?" and "That was stupid, what the heck" And all I kept thinking from that moment and for many nights after that was "what vision did Mike (who was being made to stand in the corner) see when he finally turned around?" And I'm sure I mentally came up with a scarier vision in my mind than anything that makeup or CGI could have given me. That's why it's one of my all time favorites for horror yet I can totally get how other people weren't that into it.

Yeah it is very understandable why someone would dislike this film or love this film. I loved that they did not show the witch because for me and just like you said, not seeing always feels scarier.
