Haha Ollie, told you that "Improbable Cause" was just a prelude to "The Die is Cast". ;) Glad you liked the episode. Not only does it have great action and suspense but also some profound character moments. Moreover, it pushes the Dominion storyline forward and makes you wonder what will happen next... As for the technobabble: The Defiant's weapons are called "pulse phasers" or "pulse phaser cannons", not "machine guns". :D And while I am at it and have read your comments regarding "The Way of the Warrior": Unlike the Romulans, the Klingons do not have Warbirds. Well, except in the Kelvin timeline - but that is something I do not want to talk about... In the regular timeline, they have Bird of Preys as fighters and various classes of battle cruises like the D7, the K't'inga, the K'Vort, the Vor'Cha and the Negh'Var class. The D7 and the K't'inga look very similar and come from the TOS era. The K'Vort class was only shown in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and basically an upscaled version of the Bird of Prey for cost reasons. The Vor'Cha class was a completely new model designed for TNG and first shown in the episode "Reunion" as chancellor K'mpec's flagship. It was more widely used in subsequent TNG and DS9 episodes. The Negh'Var is another new model and served as chancellor Gowron's flagship. I do not know whether the model was created for the first two episodes of DS9's fourth season or for the very last two episodes of TNG - but it appeared in both. In "Explorers", all sequences of the Bajoran lightship in space were CGI, rendered by ILM. I have read that in reality the sails would have to be several miles wide to be propelled by solar winds like this - and I am not speaking about superluminal warp speed, which would be impossible. But it is a beautiful ship and a nice father and son story.
