Man I really like the Backstory. I really love the story telling of it, like the beginning how they contradict each other. Like how Zero Two said at the beginning that she never forgot it and then Hiro said that he forgot all about it. Or that Zero Two never ask herself who she was and all her knowledge was basically what was in the Room. While Hiro always wondered who he was and had more knowledge of the outside world. It's just so good. I also really like the Picture book and how it pretty much is a reference to their story... somewhat. Because of which we now know why Zero Two call him Darling, is looking for a Darling, why she wanted to see the ocean (which was also a thing in the Picture book) etc etc Like even before meeting Hiro, the Picture book was basically everything for Zero Two. After all the experiments she clinged to it because it helped her to get through it. But after metting Hiro it was just so much more imporant to her, because it was like the Story became real. And because of that we also know now why Zero Two was going through all the Libraries and looked throughg all the Books and was looking specifically for Picture Books. Man it's just so good. But true, the fact that Hiro is her Darling from way back when, is a bit of a cliche. But I don't mind it what so ever. I think, because of what we saw at the end of the Episode. It adds to it. Bercause so far Zero Two, while remembering her Darling from way back when but not knowing that Hiro is that person, thought of Hiro not as her Darling. She just called him that because he was a decent match for her, with her taste testing him by licking him and because he survived 3 rides etc. But like we saw last Episode and this episode she was ready to kill him. But now she found out that he is actually her Darling... which she almost killed. So I think that makes it so much more impactful and when I watched this Episode when it came out it was so brutal to wait for the next Episode to see what happens next.
