Yeah it's just to show the viewer when Armament Haki is used, we know that in the Marine Fort arc there was people who used Haki, like Marco against Kizaru, but we didn't saw the Haki. But now that Haki is a bigger part it's visualized so that we know when it gets used. At least Armament Haki, since Obvervation is not really a physical thing and Conquers is pretty obvious.

Sure Whitebeard couldn't prevent bad stuff from happening on Fishmen Island, but knowing that he vouches with his Name to protect it is enough to prevent others from even trying to do some bad stuff. Because they it's pretty much asking for one of the strongest People in the World to come for your ass and kill you. Sanji getting out of his bubble and being fine, while being in like 5000-7000 depth, yeah... it's One Piece. It doesn't make sense. But it showed off a bit of Usopp. And now you could see why 70% of all Pirates that try and get to Fishmen Island die on the way, there were so many moments where they just got away because of the Coup de Burst. So if they didn't had that, they would've been in big trouble.

arnament haki is actually invisible, now that we know about it, they decided to make it black/dark just to show us that they're using the haki. edit. magellan's fruit is not a logia btw, it's a paramecia, like mr.3, luffy, brook, robin
