Just to be clear the poison Mao Mao ate was meant for the virtuous consort but it was swapped with the fish meal because that girls Lady thought she was just being picky and spoiled and wanted to "break her in" to eating fish, which accidentally saved her from being Poisoned, however she didn't know she wasn't being picky she had allergies and when she realized the fish could have killed her, she was mortified. However it begs the question of who is trying to kill the Virtuous Consort, Jinshi thinks its whoever has burned arms from passing message with the sticks like we saw last episode.

Not sure if the guy watching Mao Mao eat was wondering if the food she was eating was that delicious or she was....I think he might have wanted a taste of her lips more so than the food she was eating.

Okay i agree with your point about the animation at 2:30, BUT it is funny that we get 30 seconds of still images right after you say that. That's just anime being anime though, what can you do :D
