Elias was offering medical consultation prior to Chise's arrival because of his agreement with the church. Later Elias teaches Chise how to use magic and craft medications, and Chise gets to involve with the consultation more often (in the background) as she becomes more skilled with magic and medications.

Ok that's what she meant then. Yeah I know Elias made medicines and stuff, but I didn't think of any times where she worked at a shop... or was I saying it when she was rambling about medicine. I literally don't even remember my own reaction 😔
