This one's a gem this season, at least for me. I haven't really seen what other shows, currently airing, have to offer so I'm giving this my favorite romcom pick until further notice.

It's really interesting for me that this is such a standout show to you, because to me so far it's just been sorta standard basic romcom stuff with nothing super special. Not to say I don't enjoy it a lot, I just wouldn't have thought of it as like, one of the best this season. Interesting how opinions can diverge like that even though I'm generally just as much if not more of a cute romcom enjoyer as you are. It almost makes me feel like I'm missing out cuz I'm not quite seeing the spark here that seems to make you enjoy it so extraordinarily much :P

i agree with this, its been fine but nothing special. im starting to get really tired of the awkward stuttering afraid of girls romcom MC. i thought insomniacs after school knocked it out of the park and loving yamada is cream of the crop this season.

I'm in the opposite camp, as a source reader of most the romance shows this season, I have been most excited for this adaptation more than any other. Especially when we get deeper into the story, that's where it will truly shine :D

Tbf, I think the same can be said of just about any other romcom shows (or any other genre)... there's only so much an author/writer can do with the baseline theme. Once we start getting overly critical about certain themes (overly oblivious MC, socially awkward MC, etc.), that's when the enjoyment of the show goes out the window. Not saying there aren't actual "trash" animes out there... but I've gotten to the point of watching so much anime that when I see another reoccurring theme I just go "oh, it's this kind of show again... let's see where this goes first".

You're probably replying to the person below me, but I'm definitely not against basic shows, even when it's tropey I can enjoy it quite a lot even if it wasn't that well done. Just as I said, this hasn't necessarily *stood out* to me in any major way, as in, I've been enjoying it just fine and I'm interested in where it's going. Honestly the writing of this show does feel quite unique to me because it feels kinda... surreal? Like I feel like these characters don't actually act realistically but that's not really a bad thing (feels like a parody version of what actual humans are sometimes, idk maybe that's just me). All I'm saying is, it hasn't really impressed me with what it's doing yet (which some other romcoms this season have), but I still enjoy the fun romcom cutesy shenanigans just as much.

Yeah we all have our own taste. I lean more toward comedy in the romantic comedy genre so if it's funny af I love it more. This is the funniest of the romance stuff I'm watching and honestly I think I might find it to be the funniest anime airing currently (that I'm watching), then Konosuba and as weird as it is to say... maybe Oshi no Ko, 3rd funniest and saddest lol
