The point of the tree is purly there so people can laugh at it or find it humorous. In short its a joke role. This is how it's explained in the manga. The part that makes it better is how serious Jun took it, to the point that he became a tree as Tomo's dad said.

I think you’re getting way to hung up on them hitting each other in this show lmao

someone on YouTube mentioned that the person as a tree is there to help with forgotten lines too. That made so much sense to me.

Most background characters have these sort of "backstage" roles. They help facilitate scenes, help with lines in case some of the cast forget, etc. In some cases where the director wants something changed on the fly, they even help let the cast know seamlessly (some even wear earpieces underneath their costumes so they can hear instructions from the director). But yes, in the context of anime, they're mostly just there for comedic purposes.

DV is indeed a serious issue, but we all know this show was going for that slapstick comedy vibe so I usually don't mind as much. Heck, if you really look at the context of Jun and Tomo's relationship, as well as their upbringing, I'm not surprised at how they throw hands quite a lot. That being said, it feels like this show would likely be a one-off series. Most recent romcom animes I've watched, where they likely plan multiple seasons, don't get confessions at all at the end... at best, they'd get some vague acknowledgement that the couple's feelings are mutual. Still, this was very enjoyable for me. I'm looking forward to what Spring 2023 animes have to offer next!

I mean this series ain't rly that long, as it already ended. AFAIK there's not enough content for a full 2nd season (and never will be because of the former, obviously).

Makes sense if the source material isn't that long as well. I just get burned out from most of the romance animes I've watched that abruptly ends the story in 1 season without any confession or affirmation of feelings... making viewers either hope and pray a continuation would be adapted or forcing them to read the manga/LN/webcomic.

We got 1 more episode to go I'm so happy for this show. It's been a great run.

It is a bad thing to get violent so easily.... in real life, that is. But in anime it's a funny gag XD

Both Jun and Misuzu have come a long way. Love to see it. Misuzu getting in touch with her emotions and being a bit more open and friendly(ish). Jun coming to terms with his feelings for Tomo, and just having that solid RESOLVE. He developed a clear vision of the kind of relationship he wants with her.
