Story time (you can skip for the delay info):

My new new camera came in (long story short, Sony A7IV has overheating issues that I basically solved but knowing its an issue is scary, so I purchased the cheaper Lumix S5II). I set up the new camera and... IT... LOOKS... UGLY... I spent the past 3 hours (maybe longer) adjusting, the white balance, ISO, Aperture (which I prefer low for super mega blur), shadows, contrast and as many things as I could. I hated all of them. Whatever I did on the Sony is too peak for me. I just spent the past 15 minutes switching it back and starting my returns. I guess I'm Sony gang for life.

Delay Info:

Grimgar and One Piece are delayed 1 day. I will be posting Grimgar, One Piece and Magus tomorrow (Tuesday) and since One Piece is delayed, I'll post the other One Piece videos on Thursday and Friday (I was late to recording these anyway because the internet outage I dealt with on Friday which is the normal day I record One Piece with Diana).

Next week we will finish Ancient Magus Bride and get a new recommendation post for a fantasy series.

I will be posting K-On! on Thursday as usual along with the reactions recorded live on stream Tuesday.

Sony basically acquired the Minolta camera division, employees included (Minolta wanted to get out of the still camera market, and Sony wanted to get in, so when Sony talked to Minolta about partnering with an idea about building a competitive high end system, they ended up acquiring everything, and immediately gave the employees raises to keep them). Minolta's still cameras were known for their color quality (including getting the same color response between lenses by adjusting the antiglare coatings to tweak the color response), and Sony inherited that. Sony basically got the 3rd best selling camera and lens line in the world for a garage sale price. And, wonder of wonders, they didn't mess it up. While Panasonic makes very good cameras, the Sony Alpha line is something special.

If you got the extra cash, get the Sony Fx3. That's a really versatile and souped up a7s (or a baby fx6/FX9) that has the built-in heat sink and even more video-centric setup ad menu

Sucks that the panasonic just didn't feel right. In the end you want something you enjoy yourself. Hope the sony plays nice and that you can return the panasonic without too much of an issue :/

I was wondering if Sony was going to do cross pollination between their professional video cameras and the Alpha line - the Fx3 shows that they have done just that. And from what it looks like, they did it right - again. (A handle with XLR microphone inputs that supports phantom power indicates they are looking to support professionals)

It must be a balding issue

sheeeeeeesh, looks amazing and I would, but that's a whole $1000 more without a lens. With a lens its like 5k 💀
