I feel like that kiss scene was just set up from the start to not have anything happen so I couldn't actually get mad at it because I wasn't expecting anything in the first place. In real life that would've been a perfect moment for a first kiss between them but in anime there's no shot that a kiss is actually gonna happen in that circumstance. I was honestly satisfied with the fact they were literally constantly holding hands during their date, like they literally *are* dating ( for example they're insanely honest with each other about basically everything except for straight up saying "I like/love you"), the only thing holding them back is that they aren't referring to it as such. I feel like it's kinda fun to explore this weird ambiguous shit for a while here and I mean I also have to mention... this is the ninth episode of this anime, so I personally am very satisfied with the rate at which progress has been made, even if in the moment some things might seem annoying

I really liked the episode. I am pretty curious if the few flashbacks from our main guy, about how he was treated by his friends where he used to live has really damaged him, that he assumed the friend group he had liked him more than they really did, and they did something really fucked up, and now he is just really afraid to put himself out there again. That it's not so much about him being dense, and more about him being afraid to put himself out there again. All in all tho, cute episode :)

if you want a wholesome romance where the people aren't dense then I suggest Tonikawa for the next romance anime you react to. It is really good and fire opening too.

I super agree with this! That moment is what's making our boy hesitate and overthink. Sure, they've got something between the two of them, but considering how aloof Amane's personally is and how little he thinks of himself as well, they're never going to progress unless Mahiru herself makes it clear to him that they could be something more. That being said, if this entire series just focuses on their budding relationship, then it is understandable that we'll get these moments of frustration up until probably the end of the series, where the actual pay-off is. I just hope the destination and the way they resolve everything is worth all this hype and build-up.
