Just got done watching this on Crunchyroll saw that you had it up on here so now I'm gonna watch your reaction but before that I have to say they really are just too dam cute and you're right Joe by the end of the season they should be officially boyfriend and girlfriend and hopefully we will get the episodes of them going back to his parent's house and there was a little clip of him with some other guys that looked like they're about to get into a fight so maybe we'll get a little more of that still nothing on her backstory yet I'm a little surprised on that I would have figured by now they would have gave something other than yo her maid teaching her how to cook so hopefully we'll get some within the next couple episodes

I don't really understand the whole "You should be thankful I didn't try anything" part either, but I feel like he's like... saying she shouldn't just trust *any* guy and fall asleep at their place, because who knows what *they* might try? I think he might still be a little bit in the mindset of "I'm this random neighbor dude she visits for some reason" at this point. So I believe that's why he might go "Don't be so defenseless" because for some reason in his mind she'd just do that with any guy and not just him. Comes down to the whole low self-esteem thing from later in the episode. I don't really know though, those scenes were also irritating to me and that's the only way for it to make rational sense to me.

Hmmm tbh... I've read a lot of web novels like this, including the original of this series, and this kinda thing actually shows up quite a lot to the point where I think there is no mistranslation and it should be taken as exactly as it says. I think it's more of a weird trope in Japanese media where creeping and crimes of that nature are portrayed in a much more comical way and uncomfortably normalized to the point that there is a huge culture shock.

It's definitely a Japanese culture thing. Let's not forget that Japan has a very... "interesting" cultural issue when it comes to sex and/or intimacy. The same way groping in public transportation almost seems unheard of elsewhere, but is quite common in Japan. Anime tends to overexaggerate these things, though, so it unintentionally becomes a main focus for a lot of people outside of Japan.

I mean if a girl comes over to a guy's place alone and falls asleep there, it would be risky. Of couse a decent person wouldnt do anything but how many peole do you expect to be decent? I always expect the worst of others.
