Why would you just straight jump to "he tried to kill himself" instead of just "oh guess more than one person in that town has a moped" like a normal person would

I kinda get why Banri wanting to not be her friend is kinda messed up at a surface level, but it's kinda only messed up if you define their relationship as a normal friendship. Being "friends" with Kouko wasn't really friendship, just unrequited love that'll never bloom but will never die either.

Completely agree! That, and the fact that he's starting to remember bits and pieces about "waiting for a yes or no" answer from Linda, which caused his amnesia in the first place. As Linda was saying, she blamed herself for not being able to answer him right away. Could it have prevented him from getting into that accident? Probably. But it would appear that what had happened with Linda, in the past, has subconsciously become a trauma of his, leading to him lashing out at Kouko and wanting to just cut ties instead of remaining friendzoned.
