some magic spells have a lot to do with imagination or mental imagine so for the shooting competition they have gun like "wands" to make it easier to "aim" In theory a tablet would be enough. What I love is that each person has different talents, and when properly used and combined, amazing things can be done. I like that they came up with new sports based on magic. You saw the ice pillar here, but mirage bat is coming up. And there is so much logic behind the magic system. This anime has the counterpoint of Arthur Clarke's "any sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic". Here we have a sufficiently advanced magic that is indistinguishable from science. So few fictional worlds are built out this much.

If you think they info dump you in the anime OH BOY you should just know how much more info dumping they are skipping from the LN, i had to have so many breaks when reading the LN , cause i don't remember shit and dropped it, so even though the anime skips stuff from the LN it's kinda easier to digest than the LN, at least i think so.
