So the student who went evil on them had been a total otaku obsessed with isekai stuff and read a bunch of light novels and manga about it so he was really excited when they actually got summoned to another world. He always dreamed of being the protagonist with super strong abilities and his own heroine/harem and stuff, but someone else was chosen to be the hero, so even though he did get broken abilities relative to the world they entered, he was essentially a side character. He wanted to prove he was "the true hero" and the demons took advantage of that to get him to switch sides by promising him glory.

I gotta admit, i'm surprised at the amount of people who don't know what Rail-gun and a Pile-Bunker are. then again... i play a lot of action games, so i should always assume i'm the weird one.

Well shit, great character depth. I wish we got that in the anime though. That’s the type of character depth I like to see. Would make this seemingly random character seem a lot less crazy and more relatable.
