This anime still replicates more of a WW1 germany not a WW2 germany with nazis. What happend after WW1 (war blame, reparations) was one of reasons that lead to the rise of the nazis. European history is complicated, at least around and before WW1 time... WW2 time is not so complicated, nazis = evil. ;)

I'm not gonna say that's how American schools does it since I've never been in one But It sounds about right, since I've heard quite a few americans talk about WW1 and 2 with this statement "We won the war for you." "We saved you from the big bad European power, you should praise us." Here in Sweden for example, we have a brief go through WW1 a few times in school, most of the history however is spent on WW1's repercussions and WW2.
