You are correct, it was the opening in the end. What i don't like is that in the anime they never explain the Silver Wings Assault Medal, it was explained in the LN. In short it is one of the highest honors, most people who got it were already deceased. This medal is a very big deal. I think the first two sentences of this episode are quite important. It establishes that we are dealing with a person that is not good/normal/healthy. "I'm aware of my deficiencies as a human. My personality is twisted in various ways, and i have every complex imaginable." Have you seen the easteregg? I think you may have missed the Overlord advertisement in the railstation, it was nearly half the screen.
