yeah kiba was bad in the fight because he is just driven by anger and revenge and issei... well he is still not very experienced... so it's not hard from to lose if 1 cut is enough to inflict significant dmg. And yeah, Fanservice is a big focus... always. And High School DxD is a more chill anime when it comes to world building and story etc. At times it feels more like a Slice of Life Anime. I mean, we don't really have any goal for the stroy to go to. It's basically "Issei wants to become Harem King" and that is so vague that there is not much of a driving force for the story. But I think that beginning of S2 is already better than most of S1 and it just gets better. can't wait for the next episode.

High School DxD’s primary focus is degeneracy but beyond that there is actually a good plot and story that develops the further you go. It’s not some great story that’s worthy of praise like Frieren, it’s just a normal good plot that’s definitely better than a lot of other anime that doesn’t focus on any fanservice.
