I wish I could say that April was a great month for this project. Well... it wasn't. But at least I got this project going and possibly in May, there will be at least one finished scene to show.

When I got to work at the beginning of this month I had only 4 animatics of a faceless monster and a more or less finished script. To make an animatic is not as easy as drawing a sketch. Sketch exists within itself. You don't need to make it look good with other sketches (animatics) on the timeline. To make an animatic you need to build an image of the future scene in your mind and make it work with other scenes both ready and planned. So I managed to make 19 animatic scenes with 4 of them being establishing shots I'd probably change later.

After the first 18 proper scenes (without establishing shots) I encountered a problem that script was saying about Lydia doing some squid-parkour around her block to get around first encountered monster and to the grocery store. I don't want to make some random moves on random scenes. I want an actual path, and for that, I need a map.

So April wasn't a great month for this project but it was tolerable and I'm proud that I actually did something after almost two years of planning. After I finish the last commissions I'm planning to dedicate a week or two to the cartoon alone. I hope we didn't get annihilated by aliens and I'll be able to move further.

Thank you all for staying with me and helping to keep working on Lydia's story!
