For this subscribers show I'm joined by a repeater and a heavy weight one at that. Christopher Knowles is the author of Our Gods Wear Spandex, The Secret History of Rock 'N' Roll, and most recently The Endless American Midnight. He has also written the novel He Will Live Up in the Sky and is the longtime curator of a little blog called The Secret Sun. Recently, he has also launched the Secret Sun Institute of Advanced Synchromysticism, which I highly recommend.

In this episode, we trace the murky history of astro-gnosis, or maybe just good old starry wisdom. We reflect on some of the earliest traditions, noting that the ancients believed the Milky Way was the repository of human souls and the vast influence the Chaldean Oracles has had. From there, we tackle Mithraism, Gnosticism proper, and the epic role Freemasonry has played in preserving this tradition.

As we make our way into the modern area, we touch upon Mormonism, a particularly American form of Gnosticism. This leads into 2001: A Space Odyssey and, finally, the mega ritual that was the 9/11 terror attacks. We even find the time to address some of the bizarre symbolism in the Ghostbusters films while unpacking this mysticism. It's certainly a long, strange trip.
