Hello patrons. Yes, I have finished the newest chapter of Zenith. Here it is:

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/71045/zenith-of-sorcery/chapter/1302273/many-branched-tree

https://www.fictionpress.com/s/3368346/4/Zenith-of-Sorcery

It's, uh, a little bit late... by a few hours... well, quite a few hours... but I think its good. I enjoyed writing it, at least. Read and enjoy!

Thank you all for your support.

Fun chapter! Can't wait for the next one, that cliffhanger was great

You know what's interesting ? In the First 3 chapters you make him sound like he is 30. I feel like you truly made sure he sounds like he's around that age. However in chapter 4 he sounds exactly like zorian in your other novel, and that character was 16. The chapter was very good I simply noticed it. 😄

You know, I'm not sure what it is, but I feel like your re-write is worse than the initial draft. Somehow it feels less polished than before, the narration ... less tight? I'm not sure about that last bit, but it doesn't read as well as the initial chapters of MoL to me. And given your difficulty writing this, I have to ask, are you enjoying writing this story? Or is it something you feel like you have to do?

I'm enjoying it, yeah. No feeling forced. I think this is always the danger of putting out test chapters and then working on them - there is a possibility I'll want to change something the people are fond if in order to improve it (from my perspective) and it will end up disappointing some of those who read the initial chapters. I personally think the first two chapters are much improved from their initial draft, but as someone who often likes initial versions of things better than various remakes/final version/etc. I understand how you feel.

I'm relieved you're enjoying it. And I take my words back. I re-read chapter 4 just now and enjoyed it more. Not sure what changed. But I have one minor complaint. The tree did accelerate Marcus' magical growth. It literally says that when it calls people carrying its soul seeds a symbiotc relationship. But Marcus didn't internally scoff at that, which felt a bit odd to me. Just a bit though, as the tree seemed to divert his attention with topic of spirit-manifestation mages.

Yeah, it absolutely did accelerate his magical growth. :) Marcus was a bit overwhelmed by the whole conversation, so there are quite a few things he missed.
