Yet, it was anything but. The inhabitant of the cave was vicious and powerful, and many creatures had paid with their lives for trespassing into its area. The 'peaceful atmosphere' was simply the result of the beast killing anything edible or threatening in its immediate domain, which caused the larger and more intelligent creatures to avoid the area.

Someone mentioned on Reddit: If Zorian decides to use mind magic to forcibly extract information from people, he could have simulacra do it for him, who would then make a memory packet of only the relevant information. Terrible as it is, it may be the most pragmatic way of getting the information while learning the psychological trauma and character changing effects of *personally* committing the act. It would still be traumatic, but less so.

Physical rape is a form of torture, but what Zorian does is more akin to information theft, and certainly less immoral than killing. Zorian has stolen a lot of things in the past and has killed a lot of people, including many innocent Aranea for the sake of practice. // As long as he promises to only do it within the time loop and only for the purpose of solving time loop- and invasion-related issues, I think it's justified. // Also, recently Zorian and Zach kidnapped that fellow from the Veyers house. That mind magic interrogation went reasonably well.
