The campaign is live. The Kickstarter can be found on the following link:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wraithmarked/motheroflearningarc1

Most of the things are explained pretty well in the campaign itself, so I won't bore anyone with details, but you can get:

  1. Digital Art
  2. Signed Paperbacks
  3. Signed Hardcovers with Dust Jacket
  4. Original Physical Art
  5. A Limited Edition Bust

I had hoped to have another AU chapter done to commemorate this, but my muse wasn't cooperating with me. So no new chapter yet.

Work on Zenith of Sorcery continues, but I have little to report. I'm not happy enough with anything I've made to post it for other people to see, but I *am* producing things. Just not very good things, in my opinion. In all honesty, I had hoped to have the first four chapters finished by now and start posting in earnest, but that will have to wait a while more.

Work on the second MoL book is proceeding pretty smoothly. I can't give out any real dates yet, but things are going just as planned in this regard. :)

Anyway, even though I'm dragging my feet with Zenith of Sorcery, and haven't written any new worldbuilding in a while, a physical book is still exciting news in my book and I hope some of you feel the same. Enjoy!

Wow, at the cusp of 100% backed already. Great work guys!

I have a great and dedicated audience. It's beautiful and a little humbling to see.

Congratulations. We've successfully reached the first goal!

Anonymous

Wow, do you have a time for how long it took to reach the initial goal? Super exciting.

Time to borrow a credit card! Its both a blessing and a curse that having one is not a common thing around here...

Anonymous

I think just over an hour, if you go by when I received the email about the campaign going live.

Anonymous

Super pumped about the hardcover, been waiting for that for so long. Happy to back this :D

Immediately bought the hard cover! Looks awesome. Are you ready to sign more than 500 books? xD

nobody103

No, but I should be able to meter it out over the course of multiple days. :D

Doodlyboy15

I notice Bryan didn't try to pronounce the name of the character bust haha

DiabolicalGenius

This looks great. I'd go straight for that $1000 option if I could affort it, but unfortunately you'll have to make do with my good will. As for Zenith? It's fine to keep working on it until it clicks into place for you. Just don't stop writing. As long as you keep at it even if you don't produce anything worth showing to anyone, inspiration will strike eventually.

nobody103

When I was deciding on the character names, the last thing on my mind was whether or not people would be able to pronounce them. So long as I could pronounce them it was fine, and I never even dreamed people would be doing audiobooks and casually talking about them, etc. And, well, I'm not exactly sorry about it - it makes the whole thing more authentic and meaningful in my opinion - but it does lead to some amusing situations when people have to pronounce Quatach-Ichl, Shutur-Tarana Ihilkush, etc. :) I swear I wasn't trying to make things difficult for people. I just didn't think I would be in this situation at all.

nobody103

Thanks for the trust and encouragement. Yeah, I guess I should just keep writing and let time eventually shape my ideas into something usable that I'm fine with people seeing posted on the internet. :)

Just FYI, I'm Scottish and have been mentally pronouncing Quatach-Ichl with the hard ch, as in loch. If that's not what you intended, at least I know it's now stuck in your head forever, you're welcome. 😉

nobody103

I'm welcome indeed. :) It's Kvatač-ičl for what it's worth. Though I'm not really interested in policing people's headcanons regarding pronunciation. I know some of the words are tongue-breaking for non-Croatian speakers. Not that MoL names are Croatian in any way, but they would be easy enough to pronounce for them, even if the names are completely made up.

Might want to swap to publish a chapter on FictionPress and Royal Road mentioning the Kickstarter. Maybe switch to monthly donations here, first.

nobody103

I already tried to switch to monthly donations here and it didn't work. I couldn't keep posting fast enough, and I disliked the feeling of taking money every month with nothing to show for it. So that idea is shelved for now.

I just want to say that I've had so much fun reading your story over the last few years and I'm so happy that it's finally possible to get a physical copy of the first arc. Thanks a lot for writing it!

nobody103

You're welcome! I am also glad to have a physical copy of the book available - it somehow feels more 'real', if you know what I mean. Not that I'm looking down on web-based stories, but being able to hold the book in your hands is a special feeling.
