Chapter 55 is done and posted on fictionpress. Thank you all for patience.
There is still no worldbuilding, because I had been having a lot of trouble with this chapter and the story takes priority. That said, it's not like I didn't work on it at all and I intend to post some worldbuilding soon. I'll make a patreon post to notify you all when I do so.

Man I love this story so much. Also hahahahahaha Xvim never fails to entertain. Really happy that like 90% of the questions I asked in the previous chapter were answered. Still reading this story is like finding a puddle in the desert. You rejoice, drink it then sadly look at the empty puddle and cry because you have to go find more.

I'm also astounded that the souls of millions are being destroyed on a monthly basis. Not only because it's murder (the original souls are still there), but because apparently souls can be destroyed.

I just realized, they might be able to both exit on moral grounds at the end. Zorian is not a copy. He is a copy spliced with the soul of Zach from outside the loop. If the loop guardian were to remove either of their souls then it would be murder, not done by the controller, but by the loop mechanism itself, which the guardian seems to want to avoid. It would be the same issue as if someone were to get pregnant during the loop, then used the black box to give birth before the loop ends, said soul would no longer count as a mildly divergent copy, it would be something completely new
