Interesting that Tao’s Mum and Charlie’s Mum are put alongside each other in this episode and we see two completely different approaches to parenting, one being a lot more successful than the other. Yes, it’s understandable that Charlie’s parents should be worried about his schoolwork but an outright ban is only driving him to try to see Nick behind their backs and causing him additional stress. I love Tao’s Mum! Asking the right questions, listening, reassuring, offering advice, then allowing Tao some space to make up his own mind. In my opinion, Nellie is the standout of this episode for growling at David when he barged into Nick’s bedroom without even asking. Dogs just know, don’t they..

Right Jay you have to drop all other projects and concentrate only on Heartstopper lol. Only joking. Good to see your usual high quality, empathetic reactions. Keep up the good work. 🙂

What Graham&Ruth May and Pip said: 110%. It’s easy to take sides and lay blame, but TBH there’s not much to like/sympathize with Charlie’s Mom’s reactions and glacial lack of empathy. Compare that to Tao’s Mom, the epitome of a loving, caring, understanding parent. Then: David’s ‘At least admit you’re gay’ comment, which just…grrrrrr 🐶. Thank you Nellie (you could’ve bitten him you know). And JAY : YOU’RE.THE.BEST !

Just done a rewatch. Well done on picking up on the not eating thing Jay, you seem to have a very empathetic sense about people and a great feel for the characters. it's a good trait for a person to have. Great reaction. 🙂. keep it up.

I know this is not going to want to be heard but... I think Charlie's mum was actually a little in the right. I do think an outright ban was a bit much, but something needed to be done. Charlie is only 15, he NEEDS to do his schoolwork. I think a lot of people miss that she said 'until this coursework essay is handed in'- She literally was saying he only needed to do the essay to see Nick again. Charlie is brilliant enough to bang it out quickly, then it would have been done. My oldest is 15 and he was actually shouting at our screens 'Just do your coursework Charlie!'. However... I think the park scene alone was worth the sneaking out LOL. It was stunning.
