Fun Fact: Mr. Copper who invented the sub wave network was the old man from the Titanic episode. The one the Doctor took to earth and let him live his life there. The continuity and callbacks are 100% on point these first 4 series. Rose’s face when she first sees the doctor on the network and then in real life (that goddamn smile) just breaks me. If you’re a fan of the classic series, this episode is even more impactful with the inclusion of Sarah Jane. The way Russel T Davies set all these characters up to have an infinity war/endgame type of finale was just pure perfection. Honestly the perfect cast of characters I haven’t seen replicated in the longest time. I also love how everyone gets a moment in just this one episode. I wont say a word about the doctor’s regeneration, but the first time I saw this I was bawling as much as Rose lol. In conclusion, series 4 is a masterclass of Doctor Who, all the characters are amazing, David Tennant, Billie Piper, Catherine Tate, Freema Agyeman, John Barrowman and Elizabeth Sladen are the goats of New Doctor Who and the reason it became so successful. Shoutout to Christopher Eccleston as well.

I remember when this aired, it felt like the whole of the UK went into shock from that ending. The media were in a frenzy, they hadn't seen it coming, and for once the BBC had managed to prevent leaks over a major plot point. As you can see we really were not lying when we all said series 4 just gets stronger and stronger with each episode, and that it ends of a most spectacular run of episodes!!! Great reaction Jay, can't wait for the next one.

💯 and an awesome note on the Infinity War comparison. I remember reading an article in maybe one of the industry magazines, not mainstream. It was an interview with Russel T. Somehow the topic of the MCU and their technique of developing concurrent projects and then bring them together for a big bang finale came up. RTD responded with something like “interesting concept. I’ll have to try that sometime.” Love RTD hahaha.

I'm glad you enjoyed this episode and your reaction was speechless I remember watching this when it aired in 2008, the uk was in shock it was all over the news about the episode and the ending there with the regeneration of the next doctor. Davros is an enemy from classic who so bringing him back into new who was a huge thing as well because this was his first appearance since the revival of the show. Bringing torchwood and sarah jane adventures into doctor who was just fantastic and epic by the showrunners Get ready for the next episode

First of all, YAYYY, was not expecting this until next month, so thank god. Fantastic reaction, as always! But also... It's so funny that I've been SO AMPED and excited for you to get to this episode, and yet, I'm furious with myself for giving in and watching it before the season finale was up, too! I should have waited so I could watch them back to back, hahaha. Needless to say, I (along with everyone else, I'd imagine) will be waiting with bated breath for part two 😍😍😍 (Also, I've been told time and time again that there were literal riots in the UK over this ending, and I can't say I blame them, because I'd have been one of them)
