This is one of my mom's favorite movies. Haven't seen it in years so it was nice to watch again with you. I love Angelica Houston; she can be the biggest B there is in movies but I still love her as an actress.

I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I knew you would! It was so fun watching it with you...it was well worth the wait! It’s one of my all time faves! I remember watching it in the theater...I’m old! 😂😂

I've only seen this once before, I don't remember it much if I'm honest. So I may give it another watch. Big Drew fan but I'm gonna say I love a number of her other films a lot more.

I'm so happy that I could watch this movie again with you as you watch it for the first time. Thank you again, so much for another fantastic movie reaction, Jay!!! I am so happy you loved Ever After so much, and that you had so much fun watching it for us!! I absolutely love, love, love this movie!!! This role for Drew Barrymore is by far her best role she has ever played. And for me it will always be my favorite of her roles too. I love her as Danielle, because she's strong and fierce, and her chemistry with Dougray Scott (Prince Henry) is so beautiful. I love him in this movie too, so much. I also love Jacqueline... the good stepsister, Leonardo Da Vinci, the King and Queen, Gustoff, the three other servants in the household, and of course... I love Angelica Huston as the Evil Stepmother. She's so evil and horrible, but I love to hate her. Angelica plays the Baroness so well. The music is absolutely so beautiful too, as is the story, the costumes, and all of the sets and scenery. This movie is beautiful all throughout and tragic as well. Also... I love that this story isn't the traditional Cinderella story we've seen and read so many times. But that it feels so real and believable too. Like I said above... I love Danielle and Henry together. And I love how this movie both begins and ends with the Brothers Grimm and Danielle's great great great granddaughter, the present day Queen telling the true story behind Cinderella. I wish this movie was based on a true story, but even though it isn't, this story makes it feel like it could have been. I love this about Ever After, and because it's so different from any other version of Cinderella we've ever had before. One of my favorite scenes is the fight scene between Henry, Danielle, and the gypsies in the woods, especially when Danielle carries Henry off across her shoulders to save him. So hilarious. Also... I love the moment between Jacqueline and Henry's Captain at the ball upon seeing them both dressed as horses and hearing them make horse noises upon meeting and becoming drawn to one another at the buffet table. And of course... I absolutely love Henry's proposal to Danielle in the end. So, so beautiful!!! And in the end... I love seeing Jacqueline stick up for herself to her mother as she tells her she is only there for the food. So fabulous! And lastly... seeing the Baroness and Marguerite get what they deserve in the end after Danielle saves their lives before seeing them becoming servants as Danielle was... it is absolutely satisfying. Not only are they stripped from their titles and are made servants, but they are absolutely humiliated in front of the entire kingdom and its rulers. Poetic justice for sure. Marvelous! :) Thank you so much once again!!!! I am so happy you loved this movie like I love it too. Ever After is one of my all time favorite movies. Just so, so beautiful, and beautifully acted. As always... I really, really love watching your movie reactions, as well as your show reactions for Once Upon a Time very much, Jay. You're just so enjoyable to watch and to listen to. I love your commentaries. And I'm happy this movie even made you almost cry. I can't wait for many more movie reactions, as well as for your next two reactions for Once Upon a Time!!! Especially for more Once Upon a Time!!! Until then, my friend... Stay healthy, and be happy! :) Sincerely, Heidi

One of my favorites! If you like Drew Barrymore I'd suggest Never Been Kissed also. Similar concept, but it's definitely a comedy.

So after looking up the movie, I found out from the summary its basically a Cinderella tale. Which is fine, just not my thing. Cinderella's story is one i loathe. I think I'll pass on this movie.

I love this movie as it's not the typical rendition of Cinderella. Great cast and a great movie. :-)

PG

It was a great reaction!! My sister and I used to watch this movie over and over and over when we were kids back in the 90s!! So many memories! Thanks for watching this movie it was fun to revisit it.

I second the recommendation for Never Been Kissed. Also, Music and Lyrics

My interpretation was that the reason he didn't recognize her as the apple thrower was because by that point in his life, he had gotten to a point where he had lost track of what mattered and now simply looked through people. You can look at someone and only take in certain details without seeing the whole person. For him those details were servant girl, good arm, forceful voice, in the way of him making a clean getaway. It wasn't until the bridge scene that he actually looked at her and saw her. She appeared to be his equal here and was not chasing after him which intrigued him. The fact that at the ball he realized she was the apple thrower impressed me. When she was named "servant" he knew her well enough to put two and two together.
