I'm so glad you're doing doctor who! It's such a fun show, I've been looking forward to these reactions. I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but this show is actually a reboot of the original doctor who that aired from the 60s through 1989. I won't mention any of it here, but there is information from that show that gives some background on the backstory and kind of how this show works, if you want it. I'm sure people would be happy to fill you in. It's info a lot of people had coming into this reboot, so I don't know if you'd consider it spoilers or not. Anyway, great reaction, can't wait for the next one!

I came here for the Charmed and the Vampire Diaries reactions but now I'm living for these reactions. When I first saw that Doctor Who episode 1 was posted I wasn't sure if I'd read correctly. Anyways, great reactions and I love that you're enjoying the show. To continue what Anna said: You can have the information from Old Who (what we call the 60s to 80s run) but it's not necessary. All the information that is necessary for the show will be explained since when they made New Who they knew that a lot of people hadn't seen Old Who. (To note: this is not a reboot of the old series but a continuation.) In my opinion, it might be more fun to go into the series blind if you haven't seen Old Who. A few things you're going to miss but I think they are only fun when you have actually seen Old Who instead of just being told about them. (These are not things important to the plot but more so callbacks and villains returning from Old Who) I really like the way Doctor's past is revealed in bits and pieces in New Who and the mystery of it would be kind of ruined if you were just told the past we know already from Old Who. Of course it's your own choice in which way you want to go into the series.

Caught episode one on YouTube last night purely by chance. You seemed so positive and swept up that I decided to follow the full length. I grew up with classic Who from about the mid-late 80s. It wasn't supported properly in the long lead up to it being cancelled. It was great to see it return. I'm sure you will continue to see it was done by people with a real affection for the show. It's often called a Reboot, which as Anastasia rightly says, is incorrect. It is a continuation. But yes it's not totally necessary to have seen any the previous series. With time the most essential info will be filled in, elaborated on and maybe even added to as well.

I just subscribed to your channel and am enjoying your WHO reactions. It’s fun seeing someone new 2 WHO enjoying the show. btw: Towards the end of the episode while Rose stares in sadness at what’s left of the Earth, the song that plays in the background is titled “Rose’s theme”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0I6R1w--lo And near the very end of the episode while the Doctor informs Rose of being the “Last of the Time Lords”, the song that plays is titled “The Doctor’s theme”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRfcYh5Bm-w The two themes will continue to be played throughout series 1, along with many others, and were written by composer Murray Gold who will go on to compose music for the show through series 10.
