isolated from their families. It has caused horrendous harm to the Indigenous people in Canada, with lasting effects felt even today, most especially in regards to cultural loss. The children that were forced to attend these “schools” were treated horrendously and the exact number of fatalities still is unknown.

My kids have been learning about the residential schools in their own school and when it was mentioned in the show my son, who is twelve and who I didn’t think was paying attention to the show, started shouting at the tv “No! No, don’t go!! Don’t let her go!!!” And my nine year old daughter told me that her class had visited an old residential school last year on a field trip and that the schools used to record ever time they struck each child - for some, the number was in the hundreds.
