EPISODE 01: Operation Flying Dutchman 24 (Patreon)

PLAYBACK --- OPERATION FLYING DUTCHMAN // POST-OP DEBRIEF

(A distant explosion. The rumbling of the aftershock. A muffled emergency alarm starts blaring.)

(Male) They actually went with my suggestion. That should give us a few more minutes. Continue agent.

(Female hesitates. Chains rattle. Weight shifts.)

(Female) For a few seconds I had Nyx right where I wanted her. Pinned down in the receiving end of my anger as I unleashed everything I had on her right then and there. But I no longer had the initiative and Nyx was a very skilled combatant. She knew all she had to do was to endure a few more seconds so she turtled up and waited. Those were seconds I did not have.

(Female takes a deep breath.)

(Female) Even as I pounded on her, trying to connect a solid strike, a little voice in my head kept telling me to look behind me. However my survival instinct was completely drowned out by the overwhelming rage in me. Revenge was all I wanted. Perhaps even … death? I guess it was the guilt taking hold.

(A pause.)

(Female) I felt Ruby’s arms lock around my neck. I was sure her shoulder was still hurting but she powered through it, screaming into my ears as she pulled me off of Nyx. By then I knew I was going down, but I was going to do as much damage as I could. That fantasy did not last long though … all it took was one punch in the belly.

(A sob.)

(Female) Nyx slapped my legs out of the way and got so close I could almost taste the sweat off her face. Then came the punch. Like a sledgehammer to the belly … it knocked the fight right out of me. I remember screaming in pain. I remember calling out to Baram … I felt cornered, alone. And as I Nyx stared into my eyes, I felt a chill run through my veins. But the follow-up punch didn’t come as expected, instead I heard her ask, ‘How?’
