PLAYBACK --- OPERATION FLYING DUTCHMAN // POST-OP DEBRIEF

(Female) The instant I saw Magnus lean into Baram’s spread legs I think I lost it. For a full minute I no longer cared about the mission or our cover … the only thing I wanted was to protect my friend.

(Male) So you do admit you blew your cover and jeopardized the mission.

(F) I … didn’t. I couldn’t …

(Female struggles to find the words to explain. She sighs loudly.)

(M) Your partner knew the risks as much as you did, anything can happen during a mission of that nature, and perhaps that was the only way to get Magnus … close. And you chose to take action on a whim?

(Female remains unresponsive for a few seconds. When she speaks again, she sounds surprisingly calm.)

(F) I wasn’t thinking. Everything happened so fast it feels like a blur. I rammed my forehead into Nyx’s face so hard it felt like hitting my own skull into a wall. If it hadn’t worked I would have passed out right there. But I felt Nyx’s grip loosen up and that gave me an opportunity to follow up with a straight kick into her jaw.

(Female takes a moment.)

(F) Nyx stumbled back and I hit the floor running. Praying I wasn’t too late …
