Here are some pre-made templates for you to use within Obsidian.

Instructions:

Download the provided file. Unzip it (use 7Zip) to your Vault folder structure.

Example: G:\Obsidian\FolderName\<Unzip Here>

The result should be:

Example: G:\Obsidian\FolderName\z_Templates

Now go back into Obsidian.

Settings > Plugin Options > Templates > Template Folder Location > Set to 'z_Templates'.

Now set a hotkey to pick a Template.

Settings > Hotkeys > Filter: Templates: Inset template > Set something.

For example: Alt + T

Now go back to Obsidian and create a new Note. Press your hotkey (Alt + T) and a list of templates will appear. Pick one.


Congratulations. You now have templates. Lots of templates.

Is this still fairly close to the template you use today or totally outdated ?

Great question. Absolutely and utterly out of date. These still work if all you are after it sections and prompts on what to write. But these days... Data View is what you are after.
