Hey folks!

Today I get to share another important update/expansion of a previous realm of the asset library that was in need of some attention: Rivers! River Assets 2 takes a lot of what was focused on in the original River Assets and uses the last ~3.5 years of experience in making it a lot better.

What's Included:

  • 40 different river PNGs (compared to the 2 originally created)
  • Elements to Customize your River (waterfalls and attachable lakes)
  • Ripples to make any asset appear to be "floating"
  • An assortment of example floating rocks and trees
  • An array of river wildlife to use as desired (ducks, turtles, frogs, gators, and a beaver!)

A large part of the work that went into this pack was creating the rivers in such a way that would be seamless and importantly, usable as a path in Dungeondraft. So while the 40 included river objects should be great for you non-Dungeondraft users, there is a ton of customization available in Dungeondraft now through the 4 paths available in the download pack below.

I'd like to thank all of you helped provide ideas and feedback for this pack in last month's River Assets Workshop post. That post led directly to the wildlife assets and the exact way that I worked on the waterfalls and ripples. There were also a lot of really good suggestions regarding fishing tools, equipment, water mills, laundry washing, etc. that I've banked and plan to roll into a future Harbor Assets 2. Due to the amount of time invested in the rivers themselves this time around I wanted this pack to focus a little more narrowly on the "natural" elements and the customization of the rivers.

Example Map - River Ivlis

For the example map I've tried to continue the momentum of the Amberdune Hideout example map I made for this month's Ground Textures release and strategize the use of this example map as a scene from WotC content. As a result, I specifically was looking at the location of River Ivlis from the 5E module of Curse of Strahd when creating this example river map.

Hopefully those of you in that campaign arena will find it useful, while it's still pretty setting-ambiguous to be helpful for anyone else. I've also included an "unfurnished" version of the map that while kind of silly for a wilderness scene like this, does provide a nice open template to build around as you need (it only includes the river, road, and bridge).

Suggested Asset Combinations:

Enjoy!
