Hey folks!

Today I get to share with you a somewhat unusual release for me--a return to an asset pack I've released before! I'd been wanting to expand more on our fleetingly small underwater portion of our asset library and unlike other themes that may still be able to stand on their own to be built upon, the original underwater assets were released nearly 3 1/2 years ago in March of 2018 as one of the very first sets I ever produced after the immediate popularity of the first Forest Assets. As a result, every time I'd come back them in recent history I just frankly didn't like the look of them. They didn't stand up well against current packs stylistically and I felt it would be difficult to build upon a small, subpar foundation. So, I completely repainted them! See below:

I hope you'll be able to see the differences and understand why I felt it was necessary, even if you're not as critical of my past work as I am. But while I certainly wanted to update the previous set, we couldn't stop there! The challenge was in knowing that underwater scenes in general are a little more 'niche' comparatively and yet demand so much to be done correctly! So I compromised after the initial repainting and decided to focus on three fronts: converting existing assets to become 'underwater appropriate', creating means of making existing abovewater maps underwater, and making some larger, eye-catching underwater pieces such as the colossal shark skeleton and the parts of the sunken ship.

Here's what's in the pack:

  • The entirety of the Underwater Assets part 1, completely repainted
  • Those assets broken up into individual components in a way I hadn't thought to do in the first packs release
  • 85 existing assets converted to an underwater aesthetic to cover rocks, plantlife, coral, etc.
  • Both original underwater ground textures (rough + smooth) now arrive in seamless variants
  • The premade coral reefs expanded from 4 to 11
  • A 'water overlay' PNG that can be dropped on top of abovewater maps as a part of a conversion process to making them appear underwater
  • A total of 3 example maps (see featured images above) utilizing the eye-catching set pieces of the sunken ship + shark skeleton as well as a more broadly useful ocean floor scene.
Lastly, this entire set is also now immediately available on Dungeondraft! Users can simply download the pack below and get to building. It has similarly been added to our existing library at the Dungeondraft Compilation Post

Enjoy!
