Hey folks, surprise!

During the wrap-up of last month's Annual Patron Survey a great many of you had left comments expressing support for (and asking for more of) content intended to help supplement existing WotC adventures and modules. While this is obviously something I've done in bursts in the past, with today's post I'm pleased to inform you that I've partnered up Printable Heroes in an ongoing collaboration to work together on several WotC-based maps (and some original ones I suspect you'll enjoy too!).

I imagine a great many of you are familiar with Printable Heroes work already, but if you weren't as you can see from the preview images above they create incredibly unique and high-quality miniatures! They arrive as a stupidly-easy-to-use PDF for printing at exact scale or even as circular VTT tokens!

Together, these miniatures and maps can be used to represent the NPCs and locations from the Umbrage Hill quest line in the Dragon of Icespire Peak adventure. Or barring that, as a simply quaint, countryside mill to drop into your campaign setting of preference!

One quick note here before I get to the pack's contents: due to the size of the location as it's described in the module, the map I've made for Umbrage Hill is 4x the size of my standard battle maps (17x22 squares > 34x44 squares). The reason I can do this is because so much of it represents wide-open countryside and because I worked ahead of time to create a full-page seamless grass texture specifically for this location. Though it's not included in the formal map pack, I've included that seamless grass texture as a separate JPEG below should you want to use it yourself. Lastly, there is a 'zoomed in' version of the location that just features the mill on my standard 17x22 size for those of you more accustomed to that.

  • Umbrage Hill Battle Map (with and w/o grid)
  • Umbrage Hill 'zoomed in' (17x22 squares, also with and w/o grid)
  • Umbrage Hill 'Proper' (a building map representation, rather than a battle map)
  • Asset PNGs of each floor of the mill (with and w/o grid)
  • Nighttime color variations for all of the above
  • Printable Heroes' miniatures for the NPC & Monster encountered

Enjoy!

Looks awesome! Will you be doing all of the maps from DOIP?

Sweet! I was considering running a LMoP/DoIP campaign for some friends here soon, but I might hold off a little bit until the rest are done. I can only imagine how much better your versions will look than the low res versions online. I'll just run a few one shots in the meantime, work out the kinks in doing things online. For places like Circle of Thunder where the base map has areas above ground hidden behind the caves, will you be filling in those areas, or is it more a 1 to 1 graphical overhaul of the original maps?

I’ll be making each location suitable for actual play, so in the case of the circle of thunder making sure there is an unimpeded above ground view in addition to cave overlays

I ran this encounter just last Sunday!

Oh that's so exciting, I would love more DoIP/Essentials Kit maps from Venatus! Your maps are so thoughtfully made.

Used this for my VTT game, and it worked great! Thanks so much for the separate files for the upper levels of the windmill, I was able to overlay them nicely.
