Dear friends. I hope that things are going well for you. Even if not, that's okay -- you're still perfectly fine to me the way you are. 💖

Just as a quick heads up that I am actually on holiday for the first time officially in...well, a while. It's a bit weird to be self-employed and taking holiday because there's still a part of me that feels guilty/lazy. 😬 Even though it's so easy to be able to tell people about the importance of rest and time away from what their work is, even if that work is not full-time employment, it's so hard to get over those constant noises and critical voice in my head.

Hopefully as a way to make up for the fact that there will be less content from me for the next while, I'm creating this list of books that I read (and re-read) over the past year and especially during my MegaDepresso™ that really helped me in one way or another. It's an interesting mix of fiction and non-fiction, as you might see, and while some of them may be a bit "WTF?", there is a reason I added it here. Maybe for a future post, I will also go into why, but as it is, the list is already long, so...

With that said, I will miss you while I'm gone! Take care of yourselves. 💖

Non-Fiction

  • The Body Keeps the Score (Bessel van der Kolk)
  • The Comfort Book / Notes on a Nervous Planet / Reasons to Stay Alive (Matt Haig)
  • From Surviving to Thriving (Pete Walker)[1]
  • I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki (Baek Se-hee)
  • Letters to a Young Poet (Rainer Maria Rilke)
  • Love for Imperfect Things / The Things You Can Only See When You Slow Down (Haemin Sunim)
  • Man's Search for Meaning (Viktor E. Frankl)
  • Maybe You Should Talk to Someone (Lori Gottlieb)
  • No Fears, No Excuses (Larry Smith)
  • Status Anxiety (Alain de Botton)

[1] Not actually read yet but was highly recommended at the same time as The Body Keeps the Score, so I am guessing it will also hit hard. 🙃

Fiction

  • The Bell Jar (Sylvia Plath)
  • Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (Gail Honeyman)
  • Everything I Never Told You (Celeste Ng)
  • They Both Die at the End (Adam Silvera)
  • Thirteen Reasons Why (Jay Asher)

Comics/Graphic Novels

  • Bird Brain (Chuck Mullin)
  • Hyperbole and a Half / Solutions and Other Problems (Allie Brosh)
