I don't usually like to use this platform for political messages, but I don't feel like I can stay silent on this issue. In any case, I don't think saying that black lives matter should be political -- it should be as politically transcendent a statement as 'Hope Rises' or 'Love Conquers All'.

I'm pretty far from perfect, but I recognise that white privilege is real and that whether I want to or not, I have benefited from it. I live in a world where I instinctively know that I will not be murdered by a police officer for a minor breach of the law. The inequality of quality of life for white and black people is fucked up, and I feel it is encumbent on all white people to at least acknowledge this.

Anyway-- the art! I wanted to draw a POC character who rocks my world and that is definitely Monica Rambeau-- Captain Marvel. My first ever Marvel superhero comic was an issue of Secret Wars, in which Monica and damn near every other hero in the Marvel Universe featured. Back then, Monica was the new face of Captain Marvel, but because she was the first iteration of the character I encountered she remains in my mind the original and best version of the character. Her powers and costume are really cool. In drawing her, I dug out my copy of her first appearence way back in Amazing Spider-Man Annual 16 from 1982. The attractive retro linework of John Romita's Snr and Jr made me want to Kirby the shit out of this image-- which I did.

Yes, Monica is definitely nice and your style is really amazing. Thanks for the post and those frank thoughts about what is happening in America.

Great artwork. Even greater message!

Thank you. Incidentally, would love to see her hulk out!

I thought about doing something like that, but thought it might be in poor taste considering the message of the medium.

Bless you, man. At this rate everyone needs a chance to speak up and exercise their free speech.

I fully agree ! And thanks to democracy, you (still) have the right to express your opinions. If this kind of cops had the same attitude with Amber Newman, they would get what they deserve... thanks to the Mighty Urtha !

Black lives always matter we need to get together and finally realize what Dr. King spoke " To be judged by not by the color of their skin , but by the content of their character" which was Simply MLK saying what should ALWAYS define a person is their actions and nothing else and the actions of those cops to George Floyd were reprehensible and if this was a just world ( which unfortunately it isn't always ) the actions not that they are cops would be judge and they would get the punishment they deserve . In summary let us indeed protest this injustice non-violenty and let all know at last I hope that humans are humansnothing more and actions are what makes us who we are and nothing else.

She should've been the MCU Captain Marvel, a female black superhero is different, but I like it.
