Velta (Patreon)

I was recently commissioned to create this faux-Marvel Team-Up cover featuring The Wasp and an obscure Brazillian comic book heroine called Velta. I'd never heard of her before, and a little research revealed some eyebrow raising discoveries! Katia Maria Lins is a Brazillian student who comes across a dying alien that zaps her with a strange ray. It grants her the ability to transform at will into a seven foot high super-strong blonde woman who can shoot lasers from her fingertips. I was pretty astonished that I had never encountered this character until now, and of course I had to track down some of the comics to find out more! Sadly what I found did not contain much in the way of TF. There are some nice scenes of Katia's hair turning blonde as she initiates the change, but there are no FMG transformations to speak of. 

So, what do I do? Create my own, of course! Velta has been around since the early 1970's and there seem to be many different interpretations of the character. Indeed, she rarely appears in the same costume from issue to issue, and although the basic look of a stauesque blonde supermodel is reatained throughout, her features differ in almost every artists interpretation. I based my version of Velta on Brazillian model Juliana Salimeni, since she has a figure that is both voluptuous but also strong and muscular. I'd love to draw more Velta-- what do you guys think?
