The holidays are fast approaching and an ED&D adventure hook sprang into my head and I figured I would share this with my patrons as yet another additional thing for only the folks on the Patreon supporting the continued development of my work.

The Feast of Winter's Gift

Winter's Gift is a renowned holiday marking the joys that winter provides, meant to offset the feelings of strife and difficulty that come with the colder season. It is meant to celebrate the little things that one appreciates about the winter season; sitting close to loved ones around a fire, the beauty of snow, and of course, the drive to put on some extra weight to keep warm and nourished throughout the harsher months.

To that end, the small town of Brawen holds the Feast of Winter's Gift each year at the Winter Solstice, a massive, enchanted feast blessed by Mother Winter herself, a legendary figure said to grant blessings and presents to those who keep the joy of Winter's Gift in their hearts.

But this year, the elderly cleric, Father Nicholas, who has granted Mother Winter's blessing to the feast each year to allow the villagers to eat their fill and grow fat enough to last the winter, has disappeared, and the villagers suspect that he's been kidnapped by an old exile of the village who has always held Winter's Gift in contempt. Will the party be able to save Father Nicholas, and potentially, teach this exile the true meaning of The Feast of Winter's Gift? If they can, a fattening feast and joyous friendship awaits them back in Brawen to welcome them into the Winter. If not, the village will know a harsh winter without the magical padding the cleric provides them each year to grant them extra warmth.

But the Exile is no pushover, and in fact was a student of Father Nicholas, and is an adept of the divine arts in their own right. The group may need the blessing of Mother Winter herself to prevail against their divine curmudgeonliness.
