This is a Level 5 Patreon Tier Movie Request from Julian Mark!

This was quite the watch-- very heavy both in the amount of dialogue/back and forth and also just heavy subjects throughout as well, but it kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Super well done and a good watch!

NOTE: You follow along with your own copy of the movie; I have a little timer right at the beginning where it counts down and shows the word "play" when I myself start playing the movie. I also have a timer synced throughout the movie so you're also in sync the whole time! If you don't have your own copy, then you'll have pretty much no idea what's happening!

Awesome, my favorite among the Best Picture nominees this year, along with The Holdovers. Yeah, I debated whether to request it because it really is quite dialogue-heavy and about 50% in French, but as you wrote, it does such a good job at keeping you on the edge of your seat, and the performances are just incredible. Looking forward to re-watching it on the weekend!

This was such a great reaction, and I totally see the parallels with Gone Girl! Morally ambiguous characters, and there's so much going on under the surface, but I really liked that there wasn't any big twist at the end. When I first watched the movie, I leaned towards her killing him, but now I’m not so sure anymore… That's the beauty of the film, though—it leaves things open-ended, letting everyone draw their own conclusions. They could've just handed us the answer, like showing Sandra with the murder weapon in the final scene or something, but where would be the fun in that? I'm pretty sure, though, that the son's final testimony was either made up or at least exaggerated. I think it’s implied that he's an unreliable narrator, especially with that flashback where we see his father speaking, but it's the son’s voice we’re hearing. I think Daniel took matters into his own hands and decided to save his mom so they could at least try to have a normal life. Also, fun fact, the dog won an award for his acting at the Cannes Film Festival! He did such a good job playing sick and all, from what I’ve read they trained him for weeks just for that one scene, very impressive. So many incredible performances in this, solid direction, gripping screenplay—just ticks all the boxes.
