Hey there! Thank you for being a Patron! Here's the full reaction to VICTOR/VICTORIA!

This is a Level 5 Patreon Tier Movie Request from Kathy Ice!

This was such a fun, hilarious, interesting film that talked a lot about and showed a lot of LGBTQ+ topics, which added another layer of depth and made this a really great watch!

NOTE: You follow along with your own copy of the movie; I have a little timer right at the beginning where it counts down and shows the word "play" when I myself start playing the movie. I also have a timer synced throughout the movie so you're also in sync the whole time! If you don't have your own copy, then you'll have pretty much no idea what's happening!

I’m so glad to see you react to this movie. It was a favorite of mine back in the 80s. I saw it multiple times in the theater. On the one hand, there was relatively little visibility of LGBTQIA people in films. On the other hand, there was more than you think. Though you were more likely to find gay characters in comedies than to see a serious love story, I think it surprises people today that fluidity of gender and sexuality was seen at all in the 80s and before. But this was a fun one. And very successful at the box office. Julie Andrews is great. The director was Blake Edwards. He was really well known for his comedies including the Pink Panther serious with the bumbling police detective. He did a lot of raunchy stuff so it always surprised people that he was married to sweet, virtuous Julie Andrews. They were together for about 30 years until he passed.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this one.I remember watching this in the theater and laughing my ass off. We went as a family--my parents and brother and I. And no, none of us were bothered by the fact that gay people existed. Even in 1982. Even my parents, who were born in 1940. You're right; this has been around for a long time, and there's no reason to get all bent out of shape about it.

Amazing!! Yeah I definitely emphasize saying it’s not a big deal in this because I still have people commenting on my stuff about being gay and all this negative BS 💀 (Thankfully it’s only once in a blue moon but still)
