Hey there! Thank you for being a Patron! Here's the full reaction to TITANIC!

This was overall a very beautiful, emotional movie! Definitely very sad, but very well done as well and I understand the love for it!

NOTE: You follow along with your own copy of the movie; I have a little timer right at the beginning where it counts down and shows the word "play" when I myself start playing the movie. I also have a timer synced throughout the movie so you're also in sync the whole time! If you don't have your own copy, then you'll have pretty much no idea what's happening!

The old couple in bed are Isidor and Ida Straus. He was the co-owner of Macy's and a Jewish immigrant, as was Ida. The story is that Isidor was offered a seat in one of the lifeboats, out of deference to his age. He refused. Ida stayed with him, supposedly quoting "Ruth" with "Where you do, so do I go." I discovered an article in a Jewish newsletter about this, written by Rose Maltinsky, a relative on my mother's side of the family. One of the true heroes of that horrific night was Captain Arthur Rostron of the Carpathia, which sped off its course to get to the site in 3.5 hours. (I'm so sorry -- I have a small library about the Titanic, and must spout about it).

Benjamin Guggenheim was reported to have said that line about being prepared to down like gentlemen. Everyone handles ultimate crisis in their own way. This was his, I guess. Incidentally, the shooting scene with Murdoch is questionable, and Cameron himself expressed regret at tarnishing Murdoch, who really lived, with the accepting of a bribe, the unquestioned shooting and unquestioned suicide.
