Hey there! Thank you for being a Patron! Here's the full reaction to MISERY!

WHEWWWWWW THIS WAS SO CRAZY!!! Holy crap. What a movie! Everything about this was absolutely bonkers, and with every scene things got more and more tense. I really enjoyed this film a lot, between the tense situations and the story and just how INSANE Annie was-- this was a ride. Thanks for watching!

Side note: At about 32:55 the timer disappears. I friggen spilled water EVERYWHERE and had to stop recording, so the timer would be completely off/unfixable if I tried to add it back in. APOLOGIES!

NOTE: You follow along with your own copy of the movie; I have a little timer right at the beginning where it counts down and shows the word "play" when I myself start playing the movie. I also have a timer synced throughout the movie so you're also in sync the whole time! If you don't have your own copy, then you'll have pretty much no idea what's happening!

I highly recommend the book to anyone who hasn't read it; it's my favorite of his, and it's pretty short. The story is presented very differently, and things move FAST. The reader only sees/knows what Paul does, so you don't know if anyone even knows he's missing. His situation seems hopeless from the beginning. I was skeptical about the movie (how do you make a good movie of a book that's mainly narration of a guy's thoughts??), but they nailed it. Adding Buster's story was genius, imo. I didn't like it at first, thinking they'd changed the story and were going to have him save Paul (which makes the film much less scary), but him being murdered gave me that same heart-stopping feeling I got from the book. I'm also glad they had Annie hobble Paul vs cutting off his foot (that would've been way too over-the-top on film).

The pills Annie gave Paul were called Novril. They are a fictional medication made up for the story. Novril is a powerful, highly addictive painkiller with codeine as the main ingredient. In the book, it's bitter to taste, but in the movie, it's tasteless, allowing Paul to slip it into her wine. There was nothing wrong with the pills, in the book or the movie. They were set up to be the kind of medication you'd give someone in extreme pain, rather like oxyconton. The problem was that Annie got Paul addicted to them so that he would become dependent on her, which would make it harder for him to leave. The fever and the sickly way he looked was from withdrawal. When he started to look better after not taking the pills it's because he wasn't having withdrawal symptoms anymore. Love this reaction. It was great seeing how freaked out you were over how scary Annie was, and how much you wanted Paul to escape. This is such a good movie, and it was fun to see you react to it.
