The Origin of Soulmates (According to Greek Mythology) (Patreon)
Content
In the dictionary, a soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity. According to Plato's Symposium, there's a reason every human has a soul mate. In Ancient Greece, human beings originally had two heads, four arms, and four legs. They were made up of one of three combinations: male/male, female/male, and female/female. Zeus feared the power of the combined human form, so he cut humans into separate beings. He cruelly wanted humans to spend their lives searching for their halves. Apparently, this has ultimately resulted in a constant ache of separation and want for completion in humans. According to Aristophanes, "Love" is the term describing the yearning and pursuit of ones other half. When two soul mates meet, they are supposed to have an inherent and deeply understood connection.
