I did some mushrooms as terrain and released them on my Gumroad for free years ago, and to this day they are still really popular.

I've been meaning to do some more for ages and thought they would go well with next months release.

I've done 8 large mushrooms as well as some mushroom walls to help block line of sight in table top games. Walls come will long straight, short straight, left turn, right turn.

I know terrain isn't something I normally do, but I hope you have fun with them.

Love it, will make a very characterful table even though I'm allergic to mushrooms :'D

Perfect. Your timing is excellent, Duncan. Needed some of these for DnD.

Where can we find these little fungi? I searched on GumRoad, but didn't find anything.

Will you (ever) create a myconid base army (warhammer compatible) soon or later to accompany these beautiful mushrooms? ❤️

Love those mushrooms, fitting for any cave dwelling!

Already been working on the first base sculpt and have a few ideas for myconid monsters and characters :) When you say Warhammer compatible which army are you thinking of?

Your question is legit, and I could have given more details! But actually I am trying to build up a Warhammer (square base) army mushroom/forest inspired since last 2 years. So I had to be very flexible about the choice and at now every army would be accepted with happiness 😊 I collected models from 10 different artists on Patreon, and almost no one did their models especially for a 28mm war game use. So I basically adapted a lot of models to fit with most of the Warhammer known armies. You are one of the few that focus on a wargame oriented monthly release instead of a Dungeon and Dragons one. (To be clear: instead of a lot of different character with just 1 or 2 pose, several similar characters of the same “unit” with different poses). I am telling you this just to tell that if you want to proxy an entire army with Patreon models you should be flexible and adapt a lot of models to represent something different. So in the end, I asked myself what Warhammer army could have represented better by a mushroom army? I play 6ed and 9th edition (Warhammer project). The answer I got is this: daemon of chaos army. Most of all because they answer to the need to use large size models (a lot of artist created some huge myconid models, and it would be a pity to don’t use them). So basically which army avoid large squares of infantry? Ogre kingdom and daemons. If someone would ever realise a playable myconid army with tons of infantry then almost the totally of the Warhammer races would become playable. But at now daemons gives the flexibility to play with mushrooms without the need to print 200+ 20mm models. Also ogre kingdoms gives the chance to play with 40mm models and also with some huge beasts. But talking about adaptability I think that a mushrooms army will be more similar to a nurgle army. I also considered a vampire counts army (if we think about the “lore” they could fit). But I didn’t wanted a large mass of useless troops (represented by zombies and skeleton) leaded by some small elite characters. Vampire counts could be represented by a mass of brainless mushrooms but their army list lack a lot in big creatures. Also their elite models are just small models, (vampires) while in a proper myconid army the bigger size usually represent elites or command troops. The best part of 3d print sculpt and print is to make your creativity to expand and realise something unseen. So which army grant you the chance to play monstrous huge units (like large myconid behemoth),intermediate 40mm units and also small ones? Daemons. They also use 25mm and not 20mm base (so more modelling possibilities). Nurgle also use a lot of snail troops (that can fit with a mushroom settings). They use big beasts. And a mix of small and big creatures. Daemon of chaos also take advantage of some burning daemons or magical daemons (tzeeench not nurgle) that could be well represented by some explosive mushrooms or spitting one. In the end if you realise some mushroom army you can always take some inspiration also from insects and from forest panorama. That gives flexibility if you want to adapt flying creatures and also feminine characters (Slaanesh daemonettesbrainstorming > forest/flower/mushroom dryads) which are very common among Patreon released from other artists. This is just a brainstorming of ideas! I hope that this could help!

Wow yeah that's loads of help. Thinking of Myconids I would have gone straight to Sylvaneth, but Demons and nurgle make loads of sense.

Talking about “lore” maybe (both are forest oriented). Talking about playability I don’t think so. If we talk about wood elf I think it will be hard to represent them with mushroom folks, because they have a lot of ranged troops and some cavalry (deer one). I don’t see a mushroom army how can be ranged oriented (I can’t imagine a myconid with a bow). They have some treefolks who can fit with big myconids but the majorities of the troops are small 20mm based. If we talk about silvaneth (age of sigmar) I don’t know. I really never played age of sigmar (round based). In my play group and in my club we are all over 30 years old and we all hate the new game system 😁. All the people I know still play the square base game system. 6th 8th and 9th. Anyway, I don’t want to type thousand of words here, submerging your post with personal considerations 😀 if you would like I will explain better my “research” about the game system in a mail. Some times ago I bought some models from your store and you emailed me. I can answer to that mail and we can still keep talking about this

Yeah sure that sounds good :) Are you joined to my FaceBook group? That could be a good place to chat as other people might like to jump in with ideas https://www.facebook.com/groups/2415487638539157
