Hey everyone.

After talking to a few of you about the possibility of creating stat sheets for creatures and there being a really positive reception to the idea, I thought I would open the discussion up to see what everyone's thoughts are on it, and how it would best be done.

I was thinking maybe start a facebook group where we could bounce ideas off of each other and could also be a cool place to share images and ideas etc and maybe a better place for Patrons to hang out and discus everything 3d printing and gaming related?

or I've heard of discord, although I'm not really sure how it works or if people would prefer that.

Let me know if any of you have any thoughts on the subject and the best way to move forward :)

Facebook would be a great venue, all my other 3d printing and D&D groups are on there as well.

If you have the bandwidth, I'd recommend both. Facebook is great for a more casual environment as well as a good repository/history, while discord will give people an opportunity for more specific chat rooms and real time communications

I don't like Discord, but would be inclined to use it, I refuse to use facebook at all.

I’m not a Facebook user, but would still send along some stats even if I couldn’t take part in a Facebook group. Discord or Slack are what I most often use.

Just saying, I’d start Discord for Dwarven Riding Goat Stats.

I’m fine with either. It would just be nice to have any kind of community group.

I would say, why not both? Some people like Facebook and some like Discord. Personally, most of my Patreon time is done during breaks at work and I don't have Discord access there.

Definitely prefer discord. Both “work” but Facebook groups were kind of thrown onto the platform, where as discoed was designed from the group up for this exact thing.

Discord would be my preferred. I do not and will not use fb

Which ever option allows you to be most hands off. I feel discord would be that as you can assign moderator control to a handful of trusted users to manage/moderate the mundane community tasks. things such as Pins and well channel control. Back in the early days of 3E I worked on several of the community projects (called Netbooks in those days) and the key to getting that to work was a robust grading system for suggested rules, with solid feedback to the contributor. The key to making useful stat block is remembering you don't have to complicate every idea, exceptions to the standard rules should be exceptional. I would put my hand up to be a discord moderator being able to cover Kiwi hours (GMT+12) has been helpful in other projects.

As an avid fan of both, a closed Facebook group would be the platform that would make more sense. The ease of adding files etc and the lack of moderation required and posts getting 'lost' means Facebook would be the easiest to maintain. Then again, I'd join either.

Thanks Stefan that sounds great. It defiantly seems Discord might be best for this and starting a facebook group on top as a additional place for the community to share stuff.

Would prefer a Discord myself; there is also the ability to reward patrons with additional access within Discord which could be worth looking into. So patron-only rooms? https://blog.patreon.com/integrating-with-discord
