Here is a beast to fear. Looks really great and I'm looking forward to it. Even though the fantasy worlds in our RPG campaigns contain lots and lots of fanstastic beasts, the classics often come with inherent stories that add an extra flavor. In this case around 2.000 years of it.

Would it be possible to have the tail in multiple ball joints so you could make them a bit unique when you have multiple of them ?

A flying pose with flying base would be an awesome addition as well :)

Duncan_shadow

That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that. It will take a bit of jigging, but yeah I can do a ball jointed version.

I think it looks great, dunno if this is the forum but on the mouth, in the profile picture give it a natural snarl. Bring the side lips up and wrinkle the nose a bit, Like when the big cats are smacking each other with their paws. I know it's a WIP so if you had planned on it disregard my comments.

looks cool but the pose is quete static

I think it looks really great so far! Were you going to keep the face more lion more humanish? I ask because it's one of my favorite features of Manticore that really set it apart different from lions or chimeras. Of course you know I love your work and extremely interested as I requested a Manticore long ago when requested the hags (which are still some of my favorite designs you did) Thanks for what you do and I will keep supporting all

Looks very promising :) Since manticores are so similar to chimeras in general, is there hope for a chimera model in the near future? I just happen to need a few for an upcoming campaign :p

Duncan_shadow

Don't worry this is just a work in progress before I have posed it. It will look better when it's finished.

Duncan_shadow

I was planning on keeping the face more lion like. Is it Manticores that sometimes have the more human faces?

Duncan_shadow

Yes, I want to do some more of the classic creatures that people like to use a lot as well as some of the more hard to find obscure ones.

Yep, I'd say it's one of their more distinguishing features. It's why they're so gross. Would definitely love to see a human face on this guy.

Alex Varley

Manticores have human faces, lion bodies and either scorpion tails or quilled tails. They also have rows of teeth like a shark.
