New Plague flys (Patreon)

As requested I've done a close combat version of the Plague fly. 

I will start work on a ground based version too as that's also been requested :)

Hi Duncan I've already meshmixed 3 Plague Fly Walkers & a Plague Fly Tank. I was going to send you the stl files to see what you thought of them & if you wanted to share or sell them if anybody was interested. They would probably need sawing up into smaller parts which you're probably better at than me seeing as I've only been playing with stl files for a couple of months, just starting really. What do you think ?

Hi Duncan, I have tried to email the stl files to you but they don't seem to want to attach to the email. I did send the email anyway but I have not had a reply so it may not have got to you which is why I'm messaging here. any ideas ?

I have used other tools like topogun and the Retop tools in 3ds max, but now I only use the Retopology tools in Zbrush.

It might be the files are to big to email. You could try and use a free service like we transfer to email them, or if you have dropbox you could send me a link.

Looking at them now. They look super cool, love how you have used bits of the thorn bug :) Only thing I would say is the poly count is pretty high, looks like you have combined the parts but haven't made them all one mesh. I'll do that and then make them available to the other Patrons. Thanks for sharing these, love seeing people kit bash my sculpts.

Thank you so much for those. I have combined them and decimated the file size down to help with slicing and reduce the file sizes a little and put them in the starter pack so if any other patrons want to print them they can.

Hi Duncan, I'm glad you like them & that I didn't offend you by doing them, thank you. How do you combine & decimate the file size please, just for future efforts, to save you a bit of time. I'm just learning this stuff now as I go along sort of & any help will be very much appreciated. Many thanks again.

Definitely not offended, I feel honoured if anything. You can run a combine in mesh mixer. Other wise do you have Zbrush?

Hi Duncan, I thought the combine function was how I joined them together in Meshmixer. Were they in separate bits when they got to you ? Are there different combine functions in Meshmixer ? Ones that I haven't discovered yet. Sorry I don't have Zbrush but I do have Sculptris would that do ? Many thanks.

I just noticed they seemed to have rather high poly counts and the parts looked like they had been combined but not made in to one solid mesh. As I writing this I'm playing about with meshmixer to see how you do this :)

Ok it looks like what you have to do is combine the parts, then go to edit, make solid and up the accuracy a little, and click update. If it looks good press ok and you should have one solid mesh. Hope that helps :)
