This has been a lot more of a challenge than I initially though. The physics on the toy were absolutely unusable for the most part, I think I used it for barely 1% of the animation. So it's manually animated for the most part... which has been very tedious.
I think it's turned out... fine, I've been trying hard to massage it into something that looks good. But the idea of having the knot pop in/out might have been too ambitious for me to animate by hand. I think it'll look a lot better with fluids though, to help distract from the sub-par animation.
I feel horrible it's taken me such a long time to do this one thing. But I do like the bit in the gif above (where it *pops* out) and I'm quite happy with how the lip sync looks!
Also, to keep sane, I started modeling a t-rex head.
That's it for now, I think I'm on track to have the character animation done soon, then on to physics (soft bodies, fluids)
Also also, I tested a cloth sim for the pillow under the bronto- it's the default settings for now just to see if it would work or not. Turns out it's actually pretty stable, so I'll be messing with the settings so that I don't have to make an annoying, complicated pillow rig.
