Good chunk o' progress update (Patreon)

Yesterday, I knocked out 99% of the environment (the vast majority of stuff is either cc-0/cc-by models from blend swap, the plants except the spider plant I got from blender market)

Today, I spent most of the day finishing up the furniture rig for the brontosaurus. It's a complicated setup that reacts to the hip movement (since that's where most of the weight is on him~) I really wanted to convey the heaviness of the character, so the furniture piece, short weight rack and metal bar move as he moves.

The furniture thing, the cushion where his pelvis touches, the weight bar and the rack all have their own rig.

I also had an idea of using the weld and mask modifier to achieve a toy breaking- it's a really tight fir for him so it makes sense it would tear as he uses it (also, this will be attached to a thing that keeps it secure in place, but I haven't started that yet!)

I don't think I've seen a penetratable toy break in 3d? I don't know though, it's probably been done before, but I think this is a pretty clever use for modifiers and shape keys.... Right now it's really haphazardly animated (like the modifiers thankfully let you keyframe important things for this to work, but I need to make drivers for them and bones in the bronto rig to easily control this happening).

This is day #2 of my vacation and I've made some huge progress! The face of the smol dinosaur might need some work (I haven't really tried much with it yet) but for the most part, just about ready to start animating this thing. (the part with the plug is the very beginning, where the smol boy struggles removing it so he put the water melon in~~~)

The unfinished furniture in front of the computer is where the bronto will be- theres' a webcam on a tripod that points at an angle he likes to watch~

I could model everything myself, like I'm skilled enough, but augh... I'm not spending my entire vacation on the environment >_>

More stuff tomorrow, until then! I'll be modeling, animating, etc... as I enjoy some much needed rest from school and work. I'm very excited to get a ton of stuff done.
